December is a month with a very popular religious holiday: it’s called Star Wars Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker!
—Mike Stoklasa

The 13th episode of The Nerd Crew features the trio’s first foray into live streaming with some hot and juicy news about Star Wars.

Plot[edit | edit source]

Mike kicks the episode off with an Audible ad read. Without editing, the voice is painfully stilted. Jay reads a more excited ad read for “PillPack”, which is drowned out by Mike. Mike finishes with a feminine hygiene product ad read.

While Mike and Jay introduce themselves, Jay is asked to reread a line given to them by their PR team. Forgetting he’s on a livestream, Mike notes they can cut around the mistakes.

Rich finally arrives on set. While he was scheduled to visit the new Star Wars theme park Galaxy’s Edge, the park was closed and his flight home was delayed multiple times. Mike and Jay meanwhile boast about getting exclusive access to see the Rise of the Resistance ride at Hollywood.

The crew finally get to talk about Star Wars Episode IX, but Mike can’t help but act sardonic and sarcastic about the situation. A story about John Boyega leaking the script by leaving it in a hotel room is brought up, a 30 second clip of the film is reacted to by Rich Evans, and Rich claims the film is on track to being one of the most successful films of all time with no substantiation.

Jay brings up the #StormDisneyHQ hashtag only to be informed that it was an astroturfing campaign by Disney to drum up support. Mike tries to deflect by claiming a newly-released Sith Stormtrooper figurine is a viral internet prank, only to be told after the fact it is real.

The trio discuss the waning interest in Star Wars merchandise among children. Quickly the duo shift to talk about Grogu from The Mandalorian, referring to him as “Baby Yoda” the entire time.

The crew celebrate being the 143rd most popular Star Wars themed podcast. The crew celebrate by doing a charity donation drive. The donation drive is immensely unpopular, even after changing course from a self-serving charity that gives people life-threatening disorders so they can see films early to a charity thats only goal is the benevolent eradication of HIV/AIDS.

Frustrated at the lack of bidding and the fact his food delivery hasn’t arrived, Rich Evans gets aggressive with a Darth Vader themed toaster. He damages lots of merchandise by duct taping it shut, jamming utensils into it, and beating it with a Sith Trooper figurine. This electrocutes him, and causes the toaster to spark and smoke.

Finally, when all seems lost, a viewer calls in to donate $5,000 in exchange for an autographed poster. Unfortunately Rich Evans rips the poster apart and stuffs it into the toaster to stop the malfunction.

Description[edit | edit source]

The gang is back with a live stream featuring all the latest Rise of Skywalker news!! Watch till the end to bid on a live auction for charity!!!

Remarks[edit | edit source]

Rich Evans can apparently see the “Disney Social Credit Score” counter onscreen, which is a fourth wall break unusual for any scripted Red Letter Media show.

Previously On[edit | edit source]

Mike refers to his time travel theory from Rich and Mike’s The Rise of Skywalker Predictions Video.

“Endless Trash Compactors” is a reference to the line “Endless trash!” from Fuck You, It’s January! (2017).

Up Next[edit | edit source]

Fans assumed this would be the final The Nerd Crew episode after the cancellation of Collider’s Jedi Council podcast. The next episode, Madame Web Live Stream, would air four years later to parody a different format of live podcasts talk shows.
