The format is similar to [[reView|re:View]], but is a much less analytical or revenant tone to the show or film being discussed.

The show has an incredibly loose format, centered mostly around a show or movie the hosts generally like and want to discuss. There is no real deep dive on the creation of the product, it’s legacy, or an analysis of its story, but rather an off-the cuff back and forth with various talking points.

The show has never been referred to as “Movie Talk”. This name comes from the title of the playlist on the ''Red Letter Media'' channel. Despite the name, the first show featured on the program was a television show and not a movie.
